It's real, it's coming, and I could not be more excited to finally show you this couple and this colorful Gulf Coast town.

Picture Not So Perfect is the first book in the new small-town Gulf Coast series, Heron Key — and if you like your romance funny on top, steamy in the middle, and secretly right in the feels, pull up a chair. Here's what it's about.

Billie Beckett has one rule: everything she loves has to fit in her van. She paints murals up and down the coast, stays just long enough to finish the wall, and leaves before anything can get complicated.

Then, on her first morning in Heron Key, she knocks a can of turquoise paint onto the most beautiful boat in the harbor. It belongs to Jesse Vaughn, a charter captain with a permanent scowl and very strong opinions about his boat. Billie ends up in the water, Jesse ends up furious, and by lunchtime the whole town has heard about it.

It turns out Jesse is a single dad to Piper, a six-year-old in fairy wings who decides on day one that Billie is her new best friend. It turns out the town council has feelings about herons. And it turns out the man who glares at Billie from his dock every morning is a lot harder to ignore than she'd like.

Jesse has built a careful, quiet life for himself and his daughter, and there's no room in it for a woman who's already halfway out the door. Billie knows exactly how this ends, because it always ends the same way.

Except this time, nobody seems to want her to leave.

Picture Not So Perfect is a small-town, grumpy/sunshine, single-dad romance with a nosy town, a found family, a lot of laughs, and open-door steam.

A little taste of what you're in for:

A person can't forget to hydrate, even in the middle of ruining her own life. — Billie

"I really like this shirt. I think I'll keep it," she said. She stretched, slow, and the shirt rode up, and she knew exactly what she was doing. — Jesse
I'd been kissed. Not hello-kissed. Not three-glasses-of-wine kissed. Kissed like the building was on fire and I was the exit. — Billie
"I want to take you to dinner with the lights on and let the room know you're mine." — Jesse
"He groaned and I felt something like power, like I had this big man right where I wanted him and I'm not going to lie and say that wasn't sexy as hell." — Billie
These moments with her felt like the first gasps of air I'd had after four years of holding my breath. — Jesse
There's a signup sheet for the monthly book club, and apparently half the town has signed up to lie about reading a book once a month. — Billie
You're not going to out-worry me about my own kid. I've been worrying about her every day for six years and I'm damn good at it. — Jesse
